1.3 Capitol Christmas Tree

Home of the 2012 Capitol Christmas Tree.

Every year, a National Forest provides a Christmas tree to be placed on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol. In 2012, the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree was cut on the White River National Forest near Ripple Creek Lodge at the bottom of Ripple Creek Pass.

Ute Tribal members blessed the tree at its harvest and, together with youth from across Colorado, helped to create approximately 10,000 handmade ornaments that decorated the tree in Washington, DC.
